On his journey to becoming one of the best players in the world, Ronald Hohmann shares with us what it took for him to get there. Born in Oyster Bay NY, Ronald had spent most of his childhood in his grandparent’s backyard tennis court, where he would find the first love of his life.

It was at the age of four that Ronald held a tennis racket in his hand for the first time, two years later he would find himself entering toddler tournaments and taking lessons regularly.

By the time he was 14, Ronald had brought up to his parents the idea of moving to Florida, to train full time in the location he’d been practicing at for the past two summers. With their support, Ronald would take the first step to become a professional tennis player and would find himself entering major tournaments across the country at age 15.

Practicing every day while maintaining school work, Ronald would have his first opportunity to showcase his skills at the prestigious Eddie Herr Junior tennis tournament. Winning this tournament at the age of 16 would gather attention from top players around the world, who would quickly begin offering Ronald training sessions with them, seeing his potential talent.

“My main role model has always been Gael Monfils so when I had the opportunity to train with him it was one of the best moments of my life on the tennis court because he has always been my favorite tennis player. The way he interacts with his fans and his love for the game I found astounding” says Ronald.

This top-level practice would skyrocket Ronald’s ability, who quickly demonstrated his skills across top-level tournaments around the country. It was at the Easter Bowl that Ronald would make history, becoming the first and only player in the tournament’s 52 years of existence to win out of the qualifier bracket, winning 9 consecutive games in 9 days along the way.

Ronald is currently the number one ranked tennis player at LSU, and is nationally ranked as well. While Ronald Hohmann has accomplished one part of his goal in becoming a nationally recognized player, he still has more of the journey to accomplish, as he serves his way to becoming one of the best players in the world.
